I was confused and very concerned when I got there because I paid in advance thru this booking company, and was sent an email receipt saying PAID IN FULL with a confirmation number but the hotel wanted to charge me again, they did not show I paid in full, they saw the reservation but did not care that I had a confirmation of having paid in full but I was there so I asked the manager on duty to please remember our conversation so if I got double charged, I could be refunded by either the hotel or booking company and he provided his business card to me.

Great location! The cottage is our favorite brunch place and Brick & Bell is a great local coffee shop nearby. Very short walk to the La Jolla cove. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean. It’s a nice nautical vibe which suits La Jolla. We typically opt for an Airbnb since we travel with a toddler but decided last minute to take a trip and Empress fit our budget. We would definitely stay here again because of the customer service, comfort and cleanliness of the room and you can’t beat the location.

The location of this Hotel is awesome! At the end of the block is a great restaurant for a gourmet breakfast. At the other end of the block is a Coffee Roaster with great drinks and some food. And downstairs is a terrific restaurant for dinner The Manhattan. The hotel is right down in the Village of La Jolla and is walkable to the La Jolla Cove Beach and all the stores etc. Parking is in an underground garage behind the hotel. They do charge for parking but it is convenient and secure with unlimited self parking in and out.

Empress Hotel is in a great location & centrally located to all the stores/restaurants/attractions in La Jolla. Everything is walkable. No driving needed during your stay there. One reason why I booked here is because I read reviews that their mattresses are comfy…I will confirm that!

Karen

The rooms are nice - unfortunately there was an issue with the safe in my first room, so I moved for the rest of the stay and I was given a better room - staff most helpful one this.
